Homemade Butter

Last night I made homemade butter.  It was so easy!  It's more like watching the butter make itself rather than making butter.  I put 1 quart of heavy whipping cream into my Kitchenaid bowl.  I added 3/4 teaspoon of salt, then I whipped it on the highest setting until it turned into butter.  I covered it with a towel as it splashed quite a bit.  It first whipped into whipped cream, then turned into more of a solid, then was suddenly very liquidy and splashed a lot, and soon after turned into butter!  After it was solid and wouldn't whip anymore, I drained the buttermilk off and saved it in a jar.  Then I squeezed the butter in my hand under cold running water, until the cloudy liquid was totally drained off.  That's it...the butter was done!  It's so deliciously creamy and full of buttery goodness! Mmm!

I am on butter overload.  I have already had 4 butter covered pieces of toast today!
