Peanut Butter Sheet Cake (It's a winner...literally!)

I made this sheet cake for a baking contest today.  It turned out sooooo good!  Apparently the judges agreed, because I won!  This is a super-easy cake to make, but tastes divine!

Peanut Butter Sheet Cake

Ingredients

Cake:
• 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
• 1 cup water
• 1/2 cup butter
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 2 eggs
• 1/2 cup buttermilk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
 
Frosting:
• 3/4 cup butter
• 6 Tablespoon buttermilk
• 1/2 cup peanut butter
• 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
• 1 Tablespoon vanilla

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. For the cake: In a medium pot add the peanut butter, water, and butter and bring to a boil. Remove from heat.
3. In a separate bowl, mix together the sugar, brown sugar, flour, salt, and baking soda with a fork. Add to the peanut butter mixture.
4. Add the eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla to the bowl and mix well.
5. Stir well and pour into greased or parchment lined cookie sheet pan with a little edge (12X17 jellyroll pan). Bake for 15 minutes at 375 degrees.
6. For the Frosting: In a small pot bring the butter, buttermilk, and peanut butter to a boil. Remove pan from the heat and add the powdered sugar and vanilla. Pour frosting over the warm cake.

Carrying Moose

When Moose wants one of us to carry him, he will come stand by either of us and say "I carry you Mommy" or "I carry you Daddy." He is so serious and sweet when he says it. It just melts me. I hope he keeps saying it for a long time!

Moose loved his dinner

I just served Moose his dinner and he loved it. He said "Mommy good boy cooking." He is so sweet!

Brother is stuck

I left Levi in the floor of the bedroom while vacuuming yesterday. When I finished I realized it was awfully quiet in there. I checked in him and he had scooted under the crib. Moose saw him and got all upset saying "Lie Lie stuck" while pushing on the crib! I "saved" Levi and Moose was much happier. He ran and grabbed and armful of toys and dumped them in front of Levi saying "More toys for you Lie Lie!". So sweet!

He learned this much quicker than Moose did. It must have helped watching big brother holding his own sippy cups!

Moose words

Moose and Levi were supposed to be taking a nap a little while ago, but they were in there laughing and talking to each other.  So I went in and asked them what was going on in there.  Moose looked at me and said "Need a fresh bed."  I asked him "Why do you need a fresh bed?"  He replied "I need a fresh bed.  Spilled the chocolate milk."  I checked and sure enough, he'd spilled milk! LOL

They are taking over

They love getting on Mommy and Daddy's bed! Troublemakers they are!

Papa and I were driving in the car with the boys this evening, when I heard a rustle in the back seat and then Levi started crying. I turned and asked Moose what happened, and he didn't say anything at first.  He just smiled.  Then I asked him again and he very deliberately said "I touched Li Li's eyes."  I couldn't help but laugh! :)  He is a very honest little guy!

This morning as Branden was getting ready for work, Moose was sitting on our bed watching.  Branden went into the kitchen, and Moose thought he was leaving.  He yelled "Want a kiss, buddy!"  Branden came back and kissed him goodbye, then started to leave.  Moose yelled down the hall "Get a lunch, honey!"  :)  Branden had to come show him his lunch, then tried to leave again.  Moose yelled "Get a coat, honey!"  He is so incredibly cute and sweet!

Just a few minutes ago I went to check on Moose and Levi, to make sure their room wasn't too warm.  I tried to sneak in, but the second I got in there Moose sat straight up and said "Moosey wake up!"  He is now out here sitting on Branden's lap watching him play football on the PlayStation.  He is feeding Branden "mine purple one" (purple M&Ms) and talking non-stop about the football game, tires on the computer, wanting "mine drink", take "a bite of red", and laughing like crazy!

At the beginning of this video Moose is singing (in his darling little voice) and at the end he says "want to see", but it sounds like something in French.  That's how he always says "want to see" when I take a picture or video. SO CUTE!

Dinner time
